EKA, is the one-stop place where inclusion starts, Shanthi and Sharmila, are two faces of EKA, and the way they manage the entire academy is commendable. They have fully dedicated teachers on their board who take extra care to ensure each and every child gets proper attention. EKA focuses on the holistic development of children with special needs. Here the children get lots of attention and care, not only with respect to subjects but they have lots of extracurricular activities which helps them to improve their cognitive skills and make them express their needs in a more efficient way, Here, the children are exposed to varied topics that include general Knowledge and different kinds of activities wherein they learn lots of life skills apart from their academics. The recent one was a Kindness challenge activity which lasted for 2 weeks and everyone was awarded based on the challenge accepted.
My association started with teaching Sign language at Eka. Kudos to Shanthi and Sharmila for taking this initiative as these sessions helped them to express their needs in sign language as most of the students prefer to be non-verbal. It also eased their daily communication and they were happy to learn the new language.
There is a visually impaired child who has picked up all the signs and has started communicating with other friends. I was totally surprised when all the children performed a skit in sign language on the last day. These children have totally proved that they are being inclusive now which makes us more responsible towards our Society.”
A wonderful initiative by two passionate people and special educators Santhi and Sharmila, Eka Educational and Charitable Trust works with special-needs and underprivileged young adults by providing skill-based training and creating job opportunities for them. The courses are amazing and customized to the needs of special kids. Different extracurricular activities conducted at Eka keep students engaged and active. One can visit the center and feel the positive vibes all around. My best wishes to the team for this wonderful initiative and a great future ahead.
It has been only two months since my son has joined Eka and we have seen a tremendous improvement in him. He likes to go to Eka. We thank Shanti and Sharmila mam and the entire Eka team for the wonderful job they are doing in bringing about the holistic development of the students. Had a very nice experience with Eka. My child progressed socially as well as in expressing himself . The teachers and staff are. very good and cooperative.
